From Balmain’s iconic Spring/Summer 2010 collection under Christophe Decarnin, this rare black wool tailcoat epitomises the sharp, military-inspired aesthetic that defined the house during this era. The tailored silhouette features strong, structured shoulders and a cropped front with extended tails at the back. A dramatic chain epaulette with draped aiguillettes cascades from the right shoulder, while the lapels and front are decorated with an array of military-style medals, passementerie, and embellishments. Several of the brooches and pins were customised by the original owner, enhancing the one-of-a-kind character of the jacket.

Designer Background:
Under Christophe Decarnin’s creative direction (2006–2011), Balmain became synonymous with edgy Parisian glamour—strong shoulders, military references, and rock-chic embellishments defined the brand’s meteoric rise. The Spring/Summer 2010 collection in particular cemented the “Balmania” craze, with its ultra-luxe take on uniform dressing that quickly became a celebrity favourite. Pieces from this runway are now highly collectible.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition with light, natural signs of age. Embellishments remain intact. Please note: some medals and pins are custom additions by the original owner, making this piece unique.

Size & Fit:
Labelled size FR40. Approximate bust 86 cm / 34 in. Best fits a Small–Medium, depending on desired styling.
